Welcome to the Latest Chapter. This time we're looking ahead to our annual pilgrimage to Salcombe for the May Bank holiday weekend and a bit further ahead to the one of the biggest events of the summer at Burton Sailing Club. We'll also look back to the open meeting at Burghfield - don't miss the video of this one!

GUL Series Heads South West

There can be no better place to be this May Day bank holiday weekend than Salcombe. Bring your 12, bring your crew and bring the whole family to enjoy this beautiful Devon setting!

The open meeting starts with a briefing at 12.30pm in the Batson Dinghy Park on Saturday 30th April and Saturday’s race kicks off at 2.30pm. On the Sunday the first race will start at 11pm with the second one after lunch. Finally there will be one race on the Monday morning at 11am. The full notice of race, along with the opportunity to pre enter, is available on the Salcombe Yacht Club. Not only does entering online help out the Yacht Club but you will also get a discount before the 22nd April!

Salcombe Yacht Club boasts estuary sailing at its best but is also offers all sailors a very warm welcome as well as outstanding food. There will be a 2 course meal plus coffee meal in the club at 7pm on Saturday night (16.50 per person, child price/portion available). There will also be pasties delivered to the beach for Sunday lunch, between the races, 2.50 each. Make sure you pre-order these by 27th April by phoning the Yacht Club or emailing Jools (jools@salcombeyc.org.uk).

A notoriously sociable event, Salcombe also offers activities for all of the family come rain or shine: whether it is ice creams on the beach or a look around the shops, a visit to Overbecks or a walk along the cliffs! There are plenty of accommodation options in the town as well as camping just outside.

The Perfect Match - 12 Fest and the Vintage Champs

Last year's Vintage Championships

12 Fest is back! And for 2016 12 Fest will be combined with the Vintage Championships at Burton Sailing Club to bring together the best of National 12 sailing over the weekend of the 25th-26th June.

The Vintage Championships will include Derwent Handicap racing on the Saturday with the Vintage Championship's races running on the Sunday.

For those not competing in the vintage racing there will be coaching with a professional coach on the Saturday and fun racing alongside the Vintage Champs on Sunday.

Whatever boat you bring there will be the chance to try out a different 12, from the latest Hijack or Dead Cat Bounce design to a beautiful vintage 12. And of course there's the chance to join the fun and games after sailing!

Get the weekend in your diary (25th-26th June) and don't miss it!

Sprinting Start at Burghfield

The GUL Series got off to great start with the sprint championships at Burghfield. This is fast becoming one of the most popular events of the year with its short race format.

The best way to see what happened is to check out the drone video commissioned by the NTOA at the event. You can find it on the N12 Facebook page.

There are also a great set of photos by Jeremy Carey on flickr.

The racing was hotly contested with 4 different race winners and locals Graham Camm and Zoe Ballantyne coming out on top over the 9 races. You can find the full results for all the races here.
