National 12 Design: Sunshine

About the Sunshine

Designed by Charles Currey in 1939, the Sunshine was wider than her contemporaries, with less keel rocker, a narrow bow and flatter mid & rear sections. This design was still able to win the Burton Cup in 1952. In subsequent years the Sunshine 2 and a version 6 was developed

Redstart being restored at Whitby. The ribbed and nailed clinker is the same construction as a Yorkshire Fishing Cobble. The oak keel has been removed to allow the replacement of the bottom planks.
