WELCOME TO THE HOME OF BURTON WEEK 2010.
This years event was another big success and full reports and results are available using the menu on the left.
Burton week this year takes place at Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy and will be run under the burgee of the Yacht Clubs of Weymouth, between Saturday 29th May and Tuesday 1st June 2010 After the fantastic success of last years event at Thorpe Bay, we are once again preparing for another large turnout of 12’s to grace the waters of Weymouth harbour.
THE VENUE
Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy, the home of the 2012 Olympics, has significantly changed over the last few years and now provides outstanding facilities for sailors, with easy launching from multiple slipways into the large open harbour. All racing for the National 12’s will take place outside the harbour (subject to wind conditions) giving you a superb sea sailing venue.
THE SECRET OF BURTON WEEK
Burton Week is a very special mix of competitive racing, family fun and all out joviality, so if you haven’t tried it before, now is the time to give it a go. Over 150 sailors got together last year and did battle on the water, sometimes in some really quite challenging conditions. Off the water there was plenty of time for social gatherings and a few infamous parties to boot. So whether you are a contemporary design 12 sailor, an Admiral Cupper or enjoy the refinement of the Vintage fleet, there is something for everyone.and the competition is fierce in whichever type of boat you sail. With a planned two races per day there is plenty of time to join family members who don’t sail so why not make a holiday of it?
So lets look forward to BW 2010 and remember, book early so that we can plan ahead to make the event even more successful than last year, and so that you can be entered into the ‘early entries’ prize draw for a new jib thanks to Pinnell & Bax.
