I father bought a 12' National for me in 1958 (?). It was designed (and I thought built by Uffa Fox) and was then called Velvet and I remember it having this number. I sailed it at Tamesis Club at Teddinton until about 1964. It was in bad condition and my dad and I did it up, eventually buying stainless steel rigging. It then had cotten sails. I remember the jib was attached to a wire which passed through the deck and a pulley back to the cockpit. There were other modifications that I thought made it unique, and I believe I later saw this boat in the National Maritime Museum. Can anyone verify any of this please?

I don't think this is in the NMM collection.  That boat is N456 - Westwind.
