I was there and can be seen in the fleet. The race was NOT the Burton Trophy race and the final gun was at the start of a race and not the finish.

The 1954 Burton week at Southend is also somewhere in the Pathe archives. Our then Club Secretary features!

Great stuff. great to see the simplicity and beautiful lines of the old designs ...but plimsols, shorts, cotton shirts and not a buoyancy aid in sight - not sure I'd want to go back to that again.

On further examination, this may have been the Burton Cup race except for the final section which looks like another race.
