‘Evening Campers!
’The great thing about this years event must have been the ‘Butlinesque’ feel of the campsite. Situated on the grass area between the club and the beach, right next to the boatpark, it enabled the competitors to relax together as a group and ‘bimble’ their boats to their hearts content in the firm knowledge that a full fried breakfast was a stones throw away just next to the bar!
More than forty tents over the Friday and Saturday morning and though the youth element were determined to party through the night on most occasions they did so with consideration to the family campers!
With the Southend Air Show being held on the Sunday and Monday and sailing finished for the day on both occasions by 3pm everyone was treated to a pretty good view of Airborne stunts including the Red Arrows, 2nd world war fly past (Halifax, Spitfire and Hurricane) various stunt planes and of course the not so quiet Eurofighter (it set of various car alarms in the boat park as it ignited its afterburners!).
A couple of pics of Dead Cat Bounce being ‘bimbled’ for those who wish to see its lines
