Hi All

As Tom mentioned at the AGM, we should do more short sharp racing, so.....

RHYC run two afternoons of sprint racing a year, with 2017's 2nd afternoon being 10th September.

First race is 1330
Entry £5 for non-members

Hopefully see as many 12s out as possible! Last year we had 10 for one of the short sharp racing afternoons, let's beat that!

Great week with the 12 fleet in double figures, well done to Nick & Steve, Ian & Alex and Pete & Daughters for their overal podium finishes.

Brilliant report here with some fantastic photos,

We had a really good week, met some past and present 12 sailors and will be back next year. Let's try and get even more 12s out for 2018.

Hi All,

Once again it is time for the N12 fleet to descend upon RHYC for the Smugglers Trophy Open Weekend! This year we should be joined by the Fireflies, Phantoms, Streakers and also a handicap fleet, probably on two courses like last year - but we will have our own start.

On the Sunday morning, the Smugglers Trophy Pursuit Race will take place, with N12s starting at different times and normally ensuring ABCMS rules (Anyone but Camm/Meads/Stewart)!

Entry and the NOR is available here: http://bit.ly/2qTydUY

There should be a great social and there will be free camping on site.

Hope to see you all there!

First race 11 on the Saturday.

There will be a separate handicap pursuit race on the Sunday AM - to be organised by the 12s (ABC - Anyone but Camm).

Camping available on site.

The weekend is also part of a vintage series!

Did anyone else see the footage of vintage 12s sailing on The One Show tonight ? They did a short report on the Mirrror Dinghy and how it got the masses into sailing, but showed a few seconds of 12 sailing!

Perfect time to buy a boat to race in the 2016 Vintage Championships and of course the 80th anniversary at Burton Week!

Apart from the report from Burton Week 2015 in the November issue, Neal makes his own appearance in the Bosham Classic Boat Revival report!

Evening All,

On 3513 I have a rather annoying issue where the centreboard is intially very very stiff (requires helm & crew to get it down) for the first 5-10cm 'along' the centreboard case and then is very very easy to put down.
When sailing the board will stay down, or come up about 50%, but won't stay inbetween and when ashore, the board will not come fully up until the boat is resting on the trolley.
I thought it may be due to the boat being unused for 5 or so months over the winter, but as I'm using it more regularly, the problem hasn't improved. Today I had the boat on its side, and despite trying to 'raise and lower' the board, it was the same, after a good 20 minutes or so.
I took the centreboard out and cleaned the case and also the slot gaskit, but when I put the board back in, there was still no luck. The slot gaskit is in good condition and doesn't catch on the board at all.
Currently the board is out of the boat and I'd welcome any ideas on this problem!

I have a photo of the winder board and centreboard casing w/o the centreboard if that helps..

All are cordially invited to take part in RHYC's Winter Series, starting on 26th October and running every sunday until 14th December.

It is the perfect opportunity to visit the new clubhouse and taste the new winter menu if you haven't done so already, with the added bonus of free dinghy park storage until Boxing Day!

More information can be found here: http://www.royalharwichyachtclub.co.uk/winterSeries.html

See you there!
