Ian,


The boat was moulded out of the 'alternative' mould which was used initially by MD/Stig McDonald; Full Force and Aardvark as well as Nigel Waller. I believe that there was an agreement with Ian Gore to allow him to use the mould, I remember it going from Plymouth to the east coast before coming back to me. Some very pretty boats came out of it!


Bim had the original Foolish's bottom well polished then 2 moulds were done at the same time, one for P&B the other for Derek Davies (the Mad Dog in MD!)

Hi Ben,


When put together it was a case of attach shrouds, pull jib up - there should be marks on the mast showing positions - and then tension the shrouds. Lowers were last.


When I fitted the boat out the shrouds were connected and it was a coarse tension on the front of the plate case with fine tuning coming out of the side of the case. the lowers were connected too, I am assuming that this is still the situation?


The lowers supported the mast hence no ram or chocks are needed.


The rig was designed allowing for full rake upwind and for the mast to go right forward when running.

Hi Dave,

For Dinsdale I went really high tech......................

The flaps are the light weight clear acetate from the local builders merchant used for replacement glazing - if I had known I could have let you have some a couple of weeks ago!

For the hinges, simply kevlar sail repair tape, simples!!

Have a look at the pics on the website (N2632) and you will see how it worked.

Unfortunately Dinsdale will be remaining in the garage, family commitments mean that I too will be in Canada (not with Angus that I am aware of though!)


Third year in a row that this has happened - note to self for next year, don't go away in June!!!!!

I have used kevlar sail repair tape on Dinsdale, if you have a look at the pics on the database (N2632) you can just about see how I did it.

Sorry Biniou but the British fleets aren't coming to play this year.


The current plan as I understand it is for 2017 and discussions are already underway with Carnac - as they say, watch this space!!

Dave, you are quite right!

A certain Mr Savell's boat was found in the Channel, capsized with it's trolley still attached :-*

It was recovered in one piece and returned to Millbay by the Salcombe Lifeboat with one C Winzar as Duty Cox :D

I wonder if the front tank had a bad leak and instead of repairing it a previous owner chose the option of cutting the hole, putting the bag in and then either bailing as required or allowing a bunghole to drain into the cockpit?
