The chapter would be well suited to a T-foil because of the amount of rocker towards the transom. This gives a good rising stream of water for a foil to direct just below the water line. It is someting I have thought about doing on my boat but have not got round to it yet!!
My chapter is however up for sale if anyone is interested! Would be a great boat for sailing on the sea with or without a T-foil! A chapter is a good option with Waymouth coming up next year.

Crew issues were the problem for us. We looked at the system of going down the boom to the goosneck. this added loads of friction at the mast gate like mentioned in this thread. The solution we have now is tobring the mainsheet out of the boom half way between the aft end and the kicker then allow it to follow the line of the kicker to a big BB Block which can rock in all directions, the sheet then runs aft through the centreboard case and to a ratchet block and to hand. Finaly got it working really well, as long as you have some set strop lengths to match your mast rake you have really good control over your leach tension. We use a 6mm sheet tapered to 3.5 for turning all the corners!

Hope this helps!

It is with huge regret that I have had to put 'Max Factor' up for sale.:'(

I will get round to putting an advert up on this page soon. If anyone out there would be interested in her or knows of someone who might please feel free to get in touch.

I have loved sailing the boat but due to a shortage of money everywhere I am not going to get the use out of it that it deserves.

The boat has all new sails, covers and lots of new ropes and fitting this year. A chapter would be Idea for sea venues.. Like say waymouth next year!!!! Just something to consider. Let me know if you want and extra information or photos.

We had 3 great races on saturday, sadly we spent the day sailing round on our own. finished second overall with 3,2,1. Good job you didn't make the trip on sunday as the canned the round island race for the dinghys. They were worried about how spread out the fleet would be as there were cats and 49ers to toppers!
I would argue Largs is one of the best venues the 12's have in their calender, it's a shame there wasn't more interest! maybe next year!

Is anyone going to make the trip up north to Largs? As the guys who were there last year will know it is one of the best sailing venues in the UK. This is always a good weekend and it would be goos to get a fleet of 12's there. Am I right in thinking it is part of the youth series? Any young sailors gonna bring the average age down a year or two?! Anyone interested???

First I have to say sorry for not making it to the Solway open, poor show from a scottish boat I know!! After our bad show at Leigh and Lowton we'd like to make an effort for this one. Never sailed there but a one day event is quite apealing. Who is planning on going??

We are going to be there. Just wanting to clear something from the NOR up. is it only 3 reces to count for the event as the persuit race doesn't count for the series and 3 races planned for saturday. If this is the case from the way I read it, if all races are sailed it will be 3 races leaving 2 to count. In my experience this leaves a lot of people on equal points sometimes with the same results. Also if the race on sunday is a non-counting one will that just make a lot of people go home after the one day? Sorry if I have read the NOR wrong! just thought I would ask the question.

Really looking forward to the event though  and will be there with bells on! not sure about camping yet!

We are currently sailing with a centre mainsheet on strops as an experiment. I think thta if you are going to use one them a hoop is the only way to go. any advice on a crewing front as to how to make it work!!! Down wind in a blow seems the tricky bit!

NO PLEASE, NO MENTION OF GATE STARTS!!!!! This is an amazing number of boats. I am feeling really bad for not being able to be there. Hope it all goes well.

Maybe there will be some talk about venues for future Burton weeks soon!!!

Really wish I could be there but I think with work so busy a drive there from west of Glasgow is a bit much!! Sounds like it will be  great event.

I was shocked and deepy saddened when I heared this news at the weekend. This is a huge loss to the whole dinghy sailing community in this country. He was always a pleasure to race against, even if you were always looking at his transom!!

Thanks John, I will be there, accomodation booked!! will have to see how I get on in a 12 rather than a GP! I'll get there early so if there is a chance of measuring sails there will be time. Hoping for a little less wind than there was last time I was there!! really looking forward to it. I take it the event is joined with the GP's again?

Just a quick check to see if there is any Idea of number for the scottish champs at Annandale?

Would there be anyone there who would be able to measure sails. or is there anywhere I can get them done befor?

24 hour race!!! love it!!! all of what these guys have said is so true but thats what makes it so good. it something that you have to do, the year wouldn't be compleat without it, but on the other hand your glad there is only on event a year!!! Hope this is encouraging enough. I will be there but sadly already signed up to a team.
See you in the beer tent!
