Yes, probably because once cracked water can entre and the wood swells and has nowhere to go but up, so make sure it is dry before epoxying. The scraping out of the crack helps this

Hi Alistair, this was a common problem with cold moulded boats and is caused by the wood drying and shrinking. The best way to repair it is to lightly skrape out the crack and fill with epoxy with a filler in. Hope this helps
These cracks were why I sheathed the hull on later boats.

Yes Stuart Crusaders are still compeditive at club level and Admirals Cup so go for it

Hi Stuart, The 88 is a mod suggested by John Redding, they are fuller under the mast to make it plane earlyer . They are definatly quicker than the original shape. Hope this helps, Gerry

Hi Paul, I think Fireflys still use ally plateswhich shouldnt be too different you could try Rondar who build them.or I could always put a new case in for you!!!!

I did the Burton at TBYC in 1965 and hope to be doing it again in 2009 and so will several Up River boats. I think its a good idea to try somthing different.so lets not knock OUR committee till we have tryed it
