I'm looking for recommedations for interior paint for my spaceframe baggy N3253 (similar to twice shy and wendy wind blows)

I have decided to paint the GRP and the wood bouancy tanks, centreboard coping and thwarts all the same. (the low clutter approach - I might be able to see the right control line then;-)

I am leaving the decks coated with sikkens ceetol. I need a robust paint that will go ontop of GRP and wood (after a good sand for keying).

Advice please...

why did the canting rig on radical edward not gain acceptance Mike? was it the extra weight, increased windage, or something else?

it is true - you can build a wooden boat down to weight at 78kg - but some of the carbon boats need 20kg of correctors to get to 78kg.

If we went to, say. 60kg all up wieght - would carbon be the only build material possible?

Hello angus,

My experience of owning the baggy this year has been that it is fantastic in a blow - especially on the sea with the extra bouyancy. in planing conditions it gives you phenomenal speed - but it does not come up onto the plane on a lake as soon as some other designs. (unless that is my sail trim!)

in light winds, we were hopeless.

I've no experience of a crusader.

Fantastic weekend that has confirmed my enthusiasm for the N12 just as it is. Thanks to Graham and Zoe for taking time to give me some tips!

Hi,

Inlands - I had arrived late at the sart line due to a jib problem and found myself in the middle of the main pack at the start (a situation I generally try to avoid at present). If you are the owner of the Blue boat that my boom came into contact with and probably scratched, please contact me off list and I will attempt to remedy the damage.

Hi Jane, Mike Rick et. al.

This is a really interesting thread. I would really appreciate some more coments about crew work - as I am a novice sailor, it is difficult to direct my son (crew) in what he should/should not be doing.

I suspect the boat was set up for the helm to adjust most things (? very young crew). I would like to make the sailing a more participatory endevour for him and possibly only control kicker, main and tiller myself.

Any more lists of crew responsibiliteis and sequence of event would greatly help me and my son.

how are the lowers "struts" on the "beast" controlled? Can they be adjusted on the water? I have removed my lowers system for the time being, and I am open to suggestions for a replacement system.

What is that boat really called BTW?

My boat history is as follows:

No boat [1966-2003]
Lark (not in class - small mast, no spinnaker) [2003-4]
Wanderer [2005]
N12 [2006]

The wanderer is a smaller, lighter, wayfarer. We did the "swallows and amazon's" thing in the wanderer - sailing all 4 of us to peel island on coniston, we also had 6 in on one occasion. This is what it is good for. I never got a positive comment about the look of the wanderer, or the look of respect (underserved in my case) I often get when the N12 is seen or mentioned.

I think the Lark was a good boat, but the old ones are *very* fragile (being made of very thin GRP) and not good value for money. I had two hulls in the two seasons!

I've begun to learn a little bit about sailing since I got the N12 ;-)

Iv'e changed my mind. When I came to think about it I was really scraping around for things to say to get to the magic number (12)

I don't think we need a AC version of the graphic - Graz should just do it as is to represent where the class is at the moment.
