It might not be obvious to you but it jumps out at me. Elise is an anagram of Elsie, which immediately conjours up a picture of Elsie Tanner in Coronation Street. Now, even though I have never watched the programme, she is so famous that everyone knows what she looks like. The challenge for you is to see whether you are able to pass yourself off as her.

What a fantastic weekend! The forecast was completely wrong (of course). Brilliant sunshine all weekend a nice force 2-3 on Saturday with a bit more on Sunday giving stonking reaching. Someone won, the other 30 of us didn't. Results available shortly, watch this space.

So we end up with everyone having two sails: fully battened for when the breeze is up and a soft one for the lighter conditions. Yep, I'd say that is a sop to the sailmakers and enough to rule aout a few more joining the class.

I have just discivered that the prize for the draw this year (see earlier postings) is a Nintendo Wii Console.

Numbers are slowly increasing.
Entry is FREE as the event is sponsored by Hyde Sails. There will also be a draw for a "significant item" (last year I think it was an X-box or similar) for all boats who complete all races sailed over the weekend.

Congratulations to Steve Norbury for winning the Commodore's Cup.
 
Obviously he had some help, but Steve sailed on board Quokka, part of the victorious GBR Red team.
 
Now his excuse has run out, he should get back into a proper boat so we can all thrash him!!:o

As I said recently on another thread, I think the best advert we have for what a great boat the N12 is, is to get sail them as often as we can. There are plenty of people around who are the right size to sail successfully in the class but most of them probably don't know we exist. We should forget about changing the boat but club sail (yes, I do - as recntly as last Sunday) and do the local multi-class regattas with only a handful of large well attended opens thrown in during the course of the year. Gill series event at Royal Harwich this weekend - should be well attended and sharing with the Larks & Fireflies makes it multi-class.

Sorry TC, this is wrong, ask any designer who knows what they are about. The lower the hull weight is the lower the crew weight needs to be to be really competitive. If the class wants to be attractive to over 21 stone crews again, we should be considering putting lead back into the boats and INCREASING the minimum weight.

Would everyone who is going to Royal Harwich this weekend and is still sporting the old style GILL stickers please remove them ready to collect the new version and apply them before going sailing. A gentle heat from a hairdryer softens them up and ensures they come off but the paint stays on the boat.
