As Steve says, originally 'Fifteen Minutes of Fame' however when Chris Winzar bought her from Rob, Ysobel took one look at her muttered the immortal words -'O Crikey!' and it stuck!!!!

Possibly one of my favorite Twelves of those I have owned! Only sold her because I got into compulsive boat building and couldn't fit all the boats in the drive let alone the cars.

Steve sold her onto Simon Hinks who still has her today.

Rowsell hull decked off by Derek Davis, named after the nerve gas used in the Vietnam War - well he was getting divorced at the time!

Sold to Chris Winzar in 1997. He won the Borough of Weymouth Cup in 1998 ( Suitably at Weymouth!)

Sold in 1999 to a couple from Datchet Water, not seen since?

A Radical Posture design built by Gerry Ledger in 1986 for John Sears and placed 4th in the 1987 Burton Cup.

You can just about see the 'measurement bumps' - more like mountains really!

An old pic from my archives!

I sailed Bullett at Queen Mary and Staines from 1975 - 1978

Pretty boat, she weighed in at 93kgs when I had her which included a c/board of 4.kg and correctors of 13.5kg - you can see the great lumps of lead on the front stretcher if you look carefully!

Sold her to someone in the Maidstone area (Blue Circle SC?) and never saw her again!

The original name was Mithrandir and that she was owned by one K F Bloor!!  Kevan sold her to Cathy Foster who renamed her Rashers

I seem to remember that the boat re-surfaced at Staines when I was class rep there in the late 70's and sailed by Anabel Longmore, she lived in the house about three up from the club. I think Anabel would have changed the name to Pom about then. After that, sorry can't help.

I renamed her The Holy Grail for a number of reasons:
1 - The Crusaders were chasing The Holy Grail
2 - Persuaded Emma to crew for me; getting a sibling to crew is always a family holy grail
3 - Who on earth would want to sail a boat called S****y B******s, definately not Emma who was an impressionably 19 at the time!

The boat was rescued from Batson Carpark, Salcombe where Simon Gibbens had abandoned her when he bought his trawler, sorry Salcombe Yawl!

The attached pics are from when I sorted her out, changed the hull to yellow from red and then sold her to Kean.

Roger,

Pertinant point, in Salcombe there are two sets of Racing Rules - the ISAF one that the rest of the world understand and a second that states ' Not sure what point of sailing I am on but I sail a YAWL get out of the way!' Its one of the reasons that N3062 passed away!

I might sacked for that one!!!!!

Built as a replacement by Laurie Smart when N2542 was written off in a road accident coming home from an open meeting in June 1971, Hamble if my memory is correct, Chocolate Smartie was first measured by Geoff Keene on 25th July 1971 in time for Burton Week.

She went through a couple of owners at Pevensey Bay before Bob Murrell bought her in 1978 and sailed her at Staines until,I think, 1982, when her sold her on to Dougald Weir at Earlswood Lakes SC. Dougald still owns and occasionally sails her I believe and she is a cherished heirloom!

I actully have Laurie's original certificate for some reason!

So upset at the time, having been atacked up the rear on a roundabout, Laurie set about building a replacement and turned up at Burton week with 2573 Chocolate Smartie!

Mr Greening, shame on you - living in Salcombe and you don't know the tides.................

As always I try to pick the tides so that the Twelves can play over high water providing that Town Regatta let me, and this year its over neaps and hw during the afternoon, what more can you ask for?
