Echo Graham's comments re Final Chapter - have proven to carry more weight and with a T-Foil remain very competitive.

Simon Hipkin Boats in Essex has successfully retro-fitted T-Foils to a few Final Chapters now and would be happy to do another I'm sure!

Entry is now open for the RHYC N12 Open on 10th and 11th July.
Once again the N12 fleet are part of the club's annual Smugglers' Trophy.

Catering all weekend and camping is available 30m up the road (not on the lawn now as the club has a permanent marquee).

We'll be joined by some Phantoms, RS Fevas, Lasers and a handicap fleet - although as usual there will be two course areas and we'll have our own start, probably sharing the water with the Phantoms.

Hi All,

For Solway, please see below message from Ian and Margaret:

First, delighted to hear several of you are already organised to come to Kippford to join the Solway N12 fleet in our Open, sailing for the prestigious Scottish Daily Express Trophy. Most of you know Kippford well but for those who haven't been before, do look at the Club's website, www.thesyc.co.uk

Please note that several Covid restrictions are still in force in Scotland, in particular the Clubhouse remains closed, apart from the toilets. You will need to come ready-changed for sailing or change in the carpark.

You must also enter in advance via the web collect page on the Solway YC website (link below). The Club must know in advance who is entered to ensure appropriate resources are in place. Regretably there can be no entering on the day.

If you need anything else, info, B&Bs, camping etc, do let me know. Lots of facilities now reopened locally so promises to be a great weekend. Depending on the weather and other factors, the Club is hoping to run an outdoor social of some kind on the Saturday evening.

Look forward to seeing you in Kippford,

Very best wishes,

Ian and Margaret

Congratulations on your new arrival!

We don't tend to measure rig tension, the general thinking seems to be the leeward shroud should be just swaying slightly upwind, not loose though. There are many more experienced and knowledgeable than me though, hopefully they'll see this post.

As for T-Foils, they work on the Feeling Foolish and Final Chapter, that is for sure. Given the Man - O - War is a modification of the Final Chapter, I'd expect it to make a substantial difference. Again, those more knowledgeable who have sailed more N12 designs than me, please comment !
