We plan to bring Grimley and Martha will be hoping there is no swimming to be done.

We are also looking forwards to the fireworks and a nice warm hotel.

I had some made up by Kevan at Alverbanks for an old Holt Allen alloy mast last season. This involved measuring the mast deflection at various points after hanging a 20Kg weight from the spreaders with the mast supported horizontally at both ends. I was really pleased with the result.
I suspect the winter sales will be starting soon :).

There is a number on the new boat page on this site:

I know some 12's have them, usually with the option to set them either way. Space would be the top issue.

Thanks to everyone at South Cerney for a great day's racing. A small fleet but great food and some close racing.
Also thanks to Anne and Mike for the boat swap in the last race, proving the biggest factor in winning is not the boat :).

We hope to be there with Grimley. Some repairs still needed after Burton week but we should be OK.

I assume there will be opportunity for a bit of measuring? I have sails that need attention.

Mad people. One way of keeping crew weight down :)

My $0.02 worth.
Looking at an example of a class that has died (apologies if you sail one).... The Marauder was reinvented from the Mirror 14, by adding a Genoa and venting some tanks. It became powered up and great to sail on the sea.  The next change was the introduction of the first GRP boat which killed the fleet.

The reason I raise this is that change can make it go either way.
The Vintage and AC fleets help protect against this, but could the fleet still operate with four categories?

My view is that we need to build more boats.  This results in a larger number of newer competitive boats and more people wanting to use them on the water, a healthy second hand market and volume for the builders which allows costs to be kept under control.
The problem here is we are the ones who have to build them or get them built :)

If you are really driven then build out of class with your ideas for change and prove the concept to the rest of the class.

Couldn't resit the bait...

Quote from: 78He then swapped the boat for an older boat (3246, Grimley Fiendish) (a somewhat curious decision) and probably went a bit slower before he left the class for a while.

From another thread
Quote from: Simon Nelson (Guest)There was nothing that could touch
Grimley downhill in a breeze and in the right conditions, upwind as
well....

She was probably my fav. 12 of all the ones I owned and I think she has one of the best names of all 12's.

Grimley still shows remarkable turn of speed. :)

Simon. Looks like a  lot of hard work and excellent job on 3309.
Good luck with the new layout.

Can anyone let me know the times of races on Sunday. I've lost my crew for early on. :( I need to see if we can make the second race or if I need a new crew.
Thanks,
Alex.
