Time for someone who actually knows what they are talking about to reveal all, then. Why is carbon so fashionable. (Biggest advantage I've found is that people come up and stroke it and say, "Ooh, is that carbon fibre"!)

...and no more counting to three. " This is the antepenultimate time I'm going to ask you to do this".

A query. We discussed tiller extention lengths and 4ft was the norm. However my 'over long' tiller extention is 4ft! (and the short one I replaced is 3ft 4ins) So am I making it look long by being particularly gimpy or is my tiller longer than the norm. Could one of you with a 4ft extention measure your tiller length from the transom please. Thanks.

Many thanks to Graham, Zoe and Phil for their time and effort on Saturday. Daisy and I got a lot out of the day (sunburn, sore bums, bruises etc), so now we have some idea of what we should be doing. Unfortunately Daisy now wants a zig zag paint job!

Jim,

When I did a web download of the java upgrade I kept getting java startup errors. As advised on the Sun Microsystems site I deleted java from my system and re dowloaded a 'manual' version which you save, then run later. That seems to work.

Is that any help?

I've been and had a look at the tideways. Its definitely not one. The transom is too square and the forefoot isn't rounded enough. There is also a quite distinctive tumblehome on your boat which the tideways don't have. Most of the tideways also have a really stumpy mast about as long as the boat, though one or two are bermudan rigged and have taller thinner masts similar to yours.

Can't help with the woodwork either, I'm afraid.

We've got lots of tideways at our club, though I've never studied them closely. I'll go and have a look and let you know.

Its rather like the game the children play to see who can shin furthest up a topper mast before the inevitable occurs.

Cool job though, standing on the spreaders and handing the spinaker across. Sadly the AC boats don't venture out in broaching weather.
