General National 12 chat / Re: Shrouds

Mike,

Sounds like you have muscle boxes like on my Crusader - I don't find them very adjustbale (unlike my previous) - considering doing the same although may copy Albacore way - need to lokk at theirs more closely this weekend.  Let me know what blocks etc you use and costs as I'd like to get mine changed - esp. off wind hitting shrouds is a pain (but at least we can runand beat the RS200!!).

Unfortunately due to work commitments I can't support this planned event - hopefully my work schedule may allow a get together in September or so.  Will have more time to get organised for that.

Would still be interested in having a N12 Open next year - if anyone is interested in sailing / viewing the Club etc then drop me a line.

Thanks,

Kean

Mike,  thanks - found a plastics sheet supplier 1/2 mile from work and picked up a free sheet from John (round the back after work) - which is the business.

Time for a Blue Peter - cutting & sticking.

Have Crusader with rear tank with metal transom bar and open back.

Seen some folks have added a rear flap - I guess something like clear acrylic. Fixed to the top bar so it acts as a big transom flap.  Whats the best stuff to use / cheap source?

Also in process of changing my rudder / stock over to a carbon version - need some advise on which pintles to use / how to set this up from my current version - (big pin going through gudgeons).

Thanks,

Yes I know its very early to be thinking about 07 but need to plan some holiday bookings etc.  Stayed in a great French gite over the half term and want to bbok it next summer for 2 weeks. I''m ASSUMING it would be the same week (last full week in August) just need to confirm.  Where's it taking place??

Unless you want to move Burton week to be International?  Lovely location near Tranche Sur Mer.  Huge beaches, great ice creams, surfing and sun too!

Thanks,

Kean

Based on the sailwave data posted 88 different boats competed from 42 Clubs.  The fleet is split almost 50/50 - 45 ACs / Vintage and 43 DBs.

Spend much of my time in data analysis at work - rather be sailing esp. this weekend looks great but can't get to Harwich  :'(

Does this mean no N12 event at Twekesbury next year?  I noticed there's also a Baggy T for sale based up there too.  Wot No 12s....

I can honestly say its a nice boat - raced against it on the River Avon (Twekesbury) - she sails well (and so does the boat!!).

Quite shiny white and I guess mainly sailed on the river there.

AC is Admirals Cupper - single bottom.  They don't automatically drain like the DB (double bottoms do) - a DB is more akin to an RS200 in that it will self drain.

ACs are still competitive on in land water vs the DBs - BUT if you do capsize they are harder to get the water out.

Vintage is for the older Clinker type boats.  From what you've described you may want a Crusader / Final Chapter for inlands.  Design guide may help you too.
