Thanks Ice cream Man!
Just ordered 2 x 90 Kg bags from P&B, put right rearward. If they don't do the trick, I'll put an additional 40Kg bag on the transom. We're a bit heavy all up you see.... ;D

Thanks johnk.
We have 2 X 70kg lifesaver airbags in the rear. Unfortunately, due to the design, can't get them very much lower in the yot. Wot's the max size for this type of airbag? Anyone know? I'll then try to get max. lift in the rear with all we've got.

P.S. amazing wot strength you need just to keep her from going to  windward when she's full of water!

Scenario: Winds force 4-5, gusting 6. Tigress rolls to lee (with us asleep) and glug! in the drink we go. She fills with water, and we can (just) make it back to tip her out and start again.
She has rear flaps and self bailers, but in truth she was so full aft that water just kept comming in. Seems like she is rear-heavy when this happens. Is there any technique to get enough water out of an AC bote so that she can rise up high enough to prevent further water ingress so that the self-bailers have a chance of doing the rest?

Or do I have to dig deep and get a double-bottomed boat for these conditions?

I am 15 stone (95 Kilos) and am still sailing a Tigress (it's all muscle I tell you). My daughter Emma (9 years old) crews with 42 Kilos and we go like "greased whatsit" on the Ammersee, even in light airs. I've even taken out "'er indoors" and still had a very balanced sail with her 67 Kilos, so work it out.....  :P.... ;D

Great! Now for lowers-free sailing....

Thanks kevin!

David, the gate is quite tight, so there is practically no lateral movement. It's been modified by insertion of hard plastic sheaving laterally.  Also, the ram has a rubber device to prevent the jib sheet and clew tangling up. I also have the feeling that the mast is quite stiff laterally, so that the windward shroud alone might be enough to prevent depowering. I take it I could get away sailing without lowers then?

Oops! that should have been BOAT! It's amazing how much after 16+ years in Germany one's spelling goes awry.... (not to mention syntax/grammar!). ::)

Yes, I've seen this one too...

However, I was a little bit perterbed to say the least as I read that it included a spinacher..... :B

I thought cooking this type of vegetable was a No-No with an N12. .. ;D

Cheers,
Now off to Zadar (Dalmatia) for the Easter Week for a boot christening and a spot of gentle yatch racing...... Happy Easter everyone and good sailing!

Ouch..... :o :o :o :o

Or rather Splash..... ;D

Very exciting - wish I could have been there.

Got wind 3-4 Bft. this afternoon on the Ammersee - I might just bunk off early for a "quicky".....

Tim, I can recommend the area a little North of La Rochelle,  Dept. Loire Atlantique. Our village of Mammendorf in Germany is twinned with Brem sur Mer, a tiny picturesque village on this stretch of coast, which is a real challenge to many an experienced sailor....

Great initiative!

Come on you fellow N12 sailors - dig deep and know you're doing something positive! Angela has collected 45 quid in sponsor money and only wants to get to 100 quid - we could do that (and more) with just quids in from all of us!

What do you think? Do I hear the sound of wallets creaking open and the crack of plastic on formica tabletops......?  :K) :K) :K) :K) :K)

Hi IanL!

A word with Kevan Bloor of Alverbanks sails might help you. He's in the book. He's helped me a lot recently with my Tigress N3130 and knows a lot about AC boats amongst  a lot of other things.

Good luck with restructuring, but be prudent with protrusions!

Lucky lot!

You talk about not having a crew Paul, whereas I'm talking about having icebergs in our local lake !!!!!  >:(

Still, new Alverbank sails arriving via TNT today (thanks Kevan)  ;D and lots to do under cover.... but all the same... Some people have all year sailing and still aren't happy....  :P
