I acquired N3335 back in 2019 and what I initially thought would be a quick spruce up, turned into nearly 5 years of painful restoration.

N3335 was finally completed just over a week ago and hit the water for the first time in many years at the Deben Yacht Club Regatta last week.

The 35 year old tiller decided to snap on day 2, but other than that she was a joy to sail in some pretty windy conditions.

After months of being sat in my garage I finally started the painting of N3335 a few weeks ago.  The first coat of primer went on very well, but within 24hrs, surface bubbling appeared from under the many layers of old paint I had tried to cover up.  Out came the hot air gun and scraper and here we are now.  5Kg of old paint removed and the hull sanded ready for starting again.  Desperately trying to get her sorted for the 85th Anniversary in September if at all possible.

Crazy Marmot has just returned from a local boat builder having had a number of woodwork repairs.  A bit more stripping required before I start the re-painting/varnishing process!

I have just bought N3335 with a view to sailing at SESCA in Suffolk next year.  She appears to have survived the years reasonably well, but does need some TLC.  If time allows she will be stripped and repainted/varnished in time for the new season.  Name will also change from 'Leela' to 'Crazy Marmot'.
