Jimbo, I'd suggest that if I leaned on your wing mirror hard enough it would probably also break - thats not what it is designed for.

Mutt. I ran a fixed rudder for years, very few problems with it and it teaches you some good handling skills in launching and recovering. I even parked my boat on it once at good pace and nothing happened.

I dont normally say this, but I think you have a point...
And with facts too! wow - are you feeling OK Timmy?
#3
And so the circle is complete....

Thats slanderous. Everyone knows deckchairs can't fly!
I did just have a think though, that a foiling 12 might be better placed to catch the breeze over the hedges at TVSC...
#5
Its also worth remembering that some of us think some of you are bonkers, and I was trained by an expert sniddler...

;D

You'd have to be pretty different to only have left feet - let alone 12 of them ;D
#7
i've still got a couple of sheets of ease and whizz stickers...
#8
I think you will struggle to buy epoxy highbuild in less than 5 kilo packs I'm afraid...

Basically, anything 2 pack. Polyeurethane or acrylic is fine. If its a pre-preg mast colour won't matter.

Cheers

I will be there in the silly boat.

A good cause, and usually great fun!

Timmy's obviously had a few too many mince pies...

[quote by=Mike_Day link=Blah.cgi?b=Cool1,m=1196853525,s=20 date=1196969343]Ok, of course we won't get to a Twelve looking like the boat at the top in the foreseeable future, but what do people think it would be like to sail if it was ever built?  As a two-handed Moth type hull, would it tack on the river? and how would it plane?  And would it be very much more difficult to sail than a current 12?  Mikey - you have the Moth experience ...

I've no idea really, teamwork would be key, it would no doubt be difficult, but as the waterline beam wouldn't be much narrower than normal I wouldn't say it would be outrageous - there would just be no safety margin when it heels as the buoyancy wouldn't ramp up.

The rule change to stop the Vortex style hulls also eliminated some other options...

Either way, Timmy is right! sail better!

Geoff Camm and myself drew up something very similar, which could have been legal a few years ago (circa 2004) The rules have been tightened up to stop something like this being built.
