Thanks Sam! I do know about the existence of chandlers; just hoping to find someone with spare self-bailers so as not to spend so many pennies...

Hi everyone,
It may be a long shot, but has anyone got a pair of new self-bailers that they don't need and could sell to me please?  Many thanks.

Thanks for all the encouraging words - I'm so looking forward to getting out on the water - but first I've got to learn how to put the boat together and rig her - so lesson one from Dare is going to be just that!
Hello John K, I remember meeting you at BCYC in Cowes last year.  I think I said to you then that I was determined to own a National 12!
Hi Michael.  I saw Jo building DCB and photographed the boat for Cowes Online when he first sailed her off Gurnard - it was great to see.  I race from the Royal Victoria Yacht Club on the Isle of Wight most of the time and that's where my N12 will live.  Just got to find a willing crew...
Thanks for the tips Fran.  A friend of mine is going to get me to practise some dummy tacks and gybes in our yacht club bar with a spare tiller and length of rope - not quite sure if that will help or not!
I would absolutely love to do a Burton Week, but don't know if I'll be able to make it next year - I probably need a few year's practise first!

PS.  If anyone wants to come to the Isle of Wight for a day/weekend anytime, and have a sail - please do get in touch.  Not having a fleet of 12s on the Island means I can't learn from copying others - but I would always be very happy to give a sail/race to any willing 12 sailor who ends up on our shores here.

It's a great feeling to finally be the owner of a sailing dinghy - and I'm glad to say it's a National 12, N3220.  Just bought the boat yesterday with Dare's help, and am feeling on cloud nine - although well aware that once I get on the water, it will be a very steep learning curve, having only crewed 12s till now - and never helmed a boat with an aft mainsheet...!  By the way, how many female helms are there out there sailing N12s?

Having watched Dead Cat Bounce being built and enjoyed seeing her maiden sail, Jo definitely gets my vote.  Louisa

As far as I remember, Jo doesn't use email much if at all!  If you email me directly, I can give you other contact details for him - unless someone does come up with his email address for you.

Hello
I have got this weekend in my calendar and would much like to crew for any crew-less helm, but, won't be able to say for sure if I can come until the week before 20 June.  I'm around until 6 June then away until 14 June - dinghy sailing in Vassiliki, Greece - it's a hard life...

Many thanks to a justly proud dad, Malcolm Mackley, who has sent me some great pictures that I'll use for Cowes Online.
Best wishes to all,

Hello everyone,
Urgent...  Can you help me? - I would be very grateful if anyone can give me Sophie or Malcolm Mackley's email address or phone number.  I'd like to use a copy of the photo of Jo Richards and Sophie for a story I'm doing for Cowes Online about Burton Week.  Any help, and/or other photos can be emailed to:

Many thanks.

Of course I meant to say that the new National 12 does feature briefly in the video report...

For all those who were at the Dinghy Show and for those who missed it, here is the video report we did for Cowes TV:

It was a brilliant show but I had to work all day, so next year I'll know to stay the night in London so I can go back to enjoy the second day in freedom!
Plus, it was an amazing experience working with a film crew for the first time and interviewing no less than three Olympic sailors in one day...!

Glad to say I've got a berth for this thanks to Tom and N3258, but, still looking to support Hamble Warming Pan on 14/15 March if crew needed for anyone -

If any helms find themselves without crew on 28 March, I could easily make it over the water for the day and would welcome the chance to do another Gill event - I've only ever done one.  You can call me on 07901 691103.
