And a closing item I suppose - Grimalkin with her name emblazoned. Just about to blast around a cold wet and horrible Bala Lake

We got about 1/2 way down the lake on saturday , it was pretty gusty and Lesley couldnt take the pain of in/out/in out, so we had to head for home.Hopefully things will get better but not happy as she wasnt too bad till she had £5k worth of surgery !
We cycled over to the sailing club on saturday pm but didnt see your boat - so went to the pub and stayed there most of the day!
If all goes well we will pop over on the 13th then

What a grim and horrid weekend !
Got to Bala at about 8 just as it was going dark, put the tent up just as it started to rain - right over a pile of Dog Mess !
Only redeeming feature of the weekend was finding an 18" long grass snake in the boat ! I hope he likes the move from Evesham to Bala, I hope he wont find it too cold and wet.
Never got to meet Chris, we did sail on the saturday but my crew / wife was not in good shape or indeed good humour due to her recurring knee problem so thought it better to keep a low profile. Perhaps I could sneak over to Oulton Mere sometime?
I did get to stick her name back on though!

That would be excellent! Many Thanks.
I will be taking the tuning guide/ tape measure/ box of spare bits beer etc etc  etc
My mobile is 07831745712 and as I said I hope to be there at a sensible time ( trying to plan a sales call in N Wales for an earlier start. :-)

Thanks, thats great.
Where will you be staying ??
We expect to be at Glanllyn mid to late afternoon friday, going home very late monday.
You will recognise us either by our shabby blue tent with a (usually broken down) green X Type estate , Grimalkin is resplendent in her new grey livery and my crew will be recognisable by her crutches !!
;-)

Are you there this weekend Martin?
That is where we are staying, I have known it as Pugh's for years( as they are the owners) but it is correctly called glanllyn.
Would be useful to meet up with any 12 owners so someone ccan tell me if I have put Grimalkin back together right !

We will be going with Grimalkin, staying at Pughs - the wrong end of the lake though!
Only slight snag is at the moment after a bad day with the Laser II at Rudyard on saturday my crew cant walk !

Thanks for that Derek, I will give that a try.

Thanks for all those replies - very impressed with the pipedream rear end - but no more woodwork for a while !

I have now started to re assemble Grimalkin and am thinking about issues like mast heel position / jib sheet angle etc etc.
I have read the 'tuning guide' with interest and will use that as my bible but can anyone start me off with some 'proven' settings for a Cheshire Cat ?
In particular :-
Mast heel position say measured from inside transom
Spreader height above s/l, width and depth.
Rake
jib fairlead position from centre line and transom or bulkhead

I hope a reasonable start point may avoid 'gruyere cheese' syndrome at a later date !

Hull rubbed down to the original base coats and a bit of 'Toplac' splashed on over a suitable intercoat. ( epoxy treatment in the winter).
Decided on Grey to match the name - as someone pointed out to me it is 'grey old cat' in old English. Also the hull matches my hair !
Quite happy with the result so far.   She is now sanded up top to take the final varnish coats . I am pleased to have been able to get the stem post back to decent timber so it will be 'varnished' not in hull colour.

Now my 'makeover' of Grimalkin is nearing completion I am thinking about screwing back the bits I took off long ago... ( if I can remember where all the bits went).
One of the things I promised myself was new flaps,  love the idea of using a yellow reflective number plate blank for the flap itself but what do I do for hinges??
I have also seen Mylar proposed as a material - but thats all floppy ? how does that work?
Is there a supplier of a 'package' of bits anyone could recomend please?
