Time has come to clean up 3232 'Rising Damp'. I'm planning to start on the outside, stripping back to the wood in order to investigate some crazing and cracks that have appeared in the paint following the lay of the veneers. Please can anyone give me advice on how best to tackle the work and what to watch out for. Can I use Nitromors or might that damage the bonding? Hot air? Or is the best tool the good old sander?

So much to do! so many questions!

Looking forward I want a nice bright finish for the outside, so that when I inevitably go swimming I can be easily spotted. If possible I'd like a coating that adds strength and stiffness, so any hot tips here would be greatly appreciated too. I'm planning to post pics as I go along, and of course I'm sure there will be haps of questions when I come to the interior.

Cheers

A little buying advice please.

I am interested in a 12 for some fun sailing. I  hear thats what it's all about. On perusing the for sale page I have come accross two boats that would fit the bill.

 Impulse - Super Bouncer - N Yorks
WeirdstoneII - Windfall - Somerset

I have approached both sellers, who have kindly supplied photos, and both seem to be in fair condition.
My situation is Gloucester based. Not affiliated to a club at present. Returning to sailing after several years off for Uni and the like. I would like to sail with my partner who has very little experience, but is willing to learn (and get wet). We really hit the top of the scales where twelves are concerned at near 26 stone. Our local clubs with Twelves are Frampton & Avon SC so thats a lake or a river. However in addition would be regular sailing at Rock on the Camel estuary.
So any insights? Am I nuts?

There's no questioning the patriotism of Pip, she too did national service with the air-cadets. And this photo may help explain Tim's interesting slot in the hog. There's a similar one in the cross member that supports the mast, and the strut being held here with the kicker atatched spans the two.
This is one of the photo's supplied by Mary when I collected Pip, and I have no idea about the when, where or who. If anyone can help shed some light on this I'd really appreciate it.

Well Chalky, I can't offer any progress reports yet. I very much enjoyed looking into the history of Bobtail though.
How about a nice link to all the pics I have in the meantime?

Pip came into my care around 18 months ago. Since then I have been unable to do anything with her. I would like to have Pip sailable for summer 2010. Is it possible? I'll add more pictures and history as I go along.
Cheers
