First season playing with a length of fishing rod has come to a shattering end.

Wise advice about diameter and thickness and source of tubing please!

Sail set well: right up until the moment when the pole shattered - after seveal months use. SO nowto build a more robust version - with your collective help.

Thanks

you can buy them from pinnel & bax, but its not cheap, but would deffinatly be easyer and probably better

Check out the Nat Graduate website. There is some photo/diagramatic operational detail and suggested sources of material suppliers.

Try and find a local supplier where you can collect. I found the postage on a long thin light tube proportionally very expensive in relation to the cost of the long thin light tube.
A couple of years ago I got carbon tube from Woolmer Forest Composites: http://www.woolmer.co.uk/ctube.html. I think mine is 20mm external diameter. A stainless core deck bush with the correct internal diameter at each end and trimmed to the external diameter and its done. Tip: thread the line through the pole BEFORE fixing the bushes.
