Many thanks to all for the replies some great advice. 'broz' sorry but I didn't keep a regular check on the thread so didn't call but thanks anyway.
I've done a bit of sailing now with the 12 at SHSC and I have to say I'm feeling my way in still. I love the boat it is lovely to sail. I'm getting the hang of sailing it single handed so I know it better and take the kids out when its a whispering wind which they love. They are always badgering me so I've not put them off yet! Little fun steps a little at a time I think. They are looking at the Optimist tho already and I take 'Dave Croft' point so will try to get them into their own boats as soon as is safe. So far so good.
The 12 is a bit tippy but not too much for me so far. I will feel happier once i've mastered a capsize recovery but at the moment I'm just avoiding the situation!! The gusty days may catch me yet! It is for sale but I go on and off selling as I think I may regret it.
Thanks to everyone much appreciated.
