Northampton - GILL series finale, Inlands & Open

Kevin, if for any reason the Saturday sailing does not run (too much or too little wind) will the Sunday results be used as both the final Gill and Inlands?

Anyone else planning on Camping over (have new tent!!) - hope its not too cold / wet / windy.

Can we get more than 40 boats there??

If we make it, huskies allowing we will be camping. Is it ok to camp friday night baring in mind that it will be early saturday morning before we arrive (huskies allowing)

The Gill series final is on Saturday.  There is no contingency plan to rearrange if there is no sailing on the saturday.  The Gill Series will be over.

The Charles Sawyer Trophy is an attractive piece of Silver which is awarded every year for the winner of the Northampton SC Open Meeting.  Additionally this year there are the prizes for the Inland Championships.  It will be a hefty engraving bill for whomever comes out on top!

We'll certainly be there.  It now looks as if we are launching the boat for the first time that Saturday.... nothing like a bit of preperation!  

This means that at least three of the four new P&B Foolishes will be there, book a trial sail now.. order one on the day!

Long range BBC weather forecast for w/c 29th october to 5th November;

A southerly flow may persist for a time over southern parts of the British Isles but the predominant flow will eventually be a mild, moist westerly from the Atlantic. By comparison to Week 1, temperatures will climb to at least the seasonal average. In some areas, notably Scotland, Northern Ireland and parts of eastern England, temperatures may well rise above the seasonal norms of 14C in the south and 11C in the north.
The period should be marked by average amounts of sunshine in northern and western Britain and below average for all other areas. It will be the mild, westerly flow rather than sunshine that will lift temperatures.


Looks like we will still be plagued with lightish winds - but I guess all could change.  Quite a few Inland Champs have had to be cancelled over the last couple of w/es.

Quick reminder about the 'big' event this weekend. Been to the club today and seen the size of the bonfire - pretty huge.  There will be a SERIOUS firework display - complete with some Patrick style humour (for those of you who have seen Prof Elcombe at Middlenene), disco, food, dancing, prizegivings, socialising and....SAILING!

Looking forward to a huge turnout.

Well, having sailed the boat for the first time yesterday Jo and I will definitely be there with her.  In contrast to historical precedent the pouring of the champagne did not result in a disaster of any sort.

We are not bringing the boys, so we should be able to enojy the fireworks.

I can also report that the Johnson family were last seen packing up both of their boats at RH last night, so i expect them to show up too!
