Tom got a good result in the 12, I wonder how he went boat for boat with the RS200's
?

Rick,

Look at the elapsed times  -  says it all! Tom is a good yachter and as to Twelves, we all know the answer there don't we?

I did that and they didn't make any sense ...

For example Race 1

http://gwsc.no-ip.org/Gwsc_Results/Open%20Meetings/2006/Grand%20Prix%20Dec%2006.htm#r1slow

Feva in 11th had a time of 00.38.16 with a handicap of 1189.

The winning 420 had a time of 00.40.27 ...

Work that out ...

Rick

So the Feva lapped faster than the winning 420 ... I don't think so ...

The times all seem a bit random to me and I don't think this event is average lap times ... could be an explanation but if so the fleet was well spread ....

I guess the feva did one lap less, I did the race last year in a laser and that was the way it worked then. ie the challenger did 2 laps in 45mins but the merlin did 3 in 46mins

rick perkins

.... starting to make sense then.

I must have been average lap times but they must have not finished all boats from the same class on the same lap.

Seems Tom was a close match for the top RS200 ...

Rick

Interesting to note that the Merlins were sailing off 1024 rather than their official number of 1021.  Perhaps I should have kept mine for the handicap events as I thought it was pretty unfair when it was 1021!!  Be interesting to see what QMSC use on Saturday, or indeed the RYA the following weekend.
