The life of N2803 Kaa.  Design: Cobra, designed by: Mal MacDougall in 1973

mikeraine

This boat was a glass shell decked by Richard and Roderick Clark, with a lot of help from their father. I remember that when it came to hanging the rudder it was a toss up wheather they put it in the middle of the transom or lined it up with the centerboard.
She measured ok but could not pass a buoyancy test. The trouble was traced to pin holes in the moulding just under the bow and easily sorted.
Richard took her to the nationals that year (I think at Whitstable) and had to fit perspex washboards to the foredeck as the bailers couldn't cope with the water that came in over the bow on the beats.
The boat was sold when Richard moved into Int 14s.
