Brixham YC is a fantastic club and is situated just a stones throw from the centre of the delightful holiday town. As always there will be competitive racing throughout the fleet and a full schedule of socials include a BBQ, fancy dress band night and the Burton Dinner.
The committee are also doing a sterling job of matching crews to helms and helms to boats. So if you are a helm without a crew, a crew without a helm or a helm/crew without a boat get in touch with
Christian Day
It is around 40 days to go now and it is pretty simple… Entries received after 7 May are late entries… Entry fees will increase from £100 to £120… Junior entry is just £60 and includes free t-shirt. All juniors who take part as crews will also receive a free t-shirt Don’t forget to book tickets for the Burton Cup Dinner when you enter, price of which has been held to a very reasonable £23pp.
Those who entered before the Dinghy Show were eligible to win a new jib from event sponsors P&B. The lucky winner was Mike Hoyle. Well done Mike, and thank you P&B.
Whilst thanking our sponsors, let us not omit to thank our new title sponsors for the national series- GUL- who have very generously donated a weekend for two at a luxurious sports hotel in Cornwall. All you need to do is enter a GULL event to have a chance to win this fantastic prize, and remember, the more events you enter, the greater the chance of winning. So if you didn't manage to make it to Burwain SC last weekend fro the first of the GUL series this year, Burton Week is the obvious next choice!
For those new to Burton Week it is a fantastic mix of sailing and social events and with support that extends right through the fleet, there is never a better chance to improve your skills or prove a point! To expand on this, the coveted 'Gipsy Trophy' which, over recent years, has been awarded to the best club fleet results has been re-branded fro 2013 BW as the 'Buddies team Trophy' and will be awarded to the highest placed Buddy Team. The teams will be matched based on a complex formula of sailing skill, boat type, ability to get upon time in the mornings, and those that can best remember which course they are sailing!
Burton Week is sponsored by GUl, P&B and Fuller’s. Yes that last sponsor brews beer, you have made your mind up haven’t you?
Dress it up!
No this is not a reminder to drop a frock or jacket and tie in your luggage for the Burton Dinner, but more a reminder of something far more important and prestigious...
You guess it....
The fancy dress party! The pirates theme of last years hasd been replaced by the more familar 'Dress as a twelve' party. So get your head in the handbbok, raid the local skips and come dressed as either the name of a twelve or as a design of twelve. Cameras will be clicking away on the catwalk and the hot news for the winners will surely hit the front page of the National Press!
