National 12 events 2005
Yorkshire Dales SC
Yorkshire Dales SC hosted a National Twelve Open Meeting on 18 September. Eleven boats competed in the event, which YDSC ran alongside their Windward/Leeward open. Mark and Emma Simpson took first place in all 4 races, although they had to work hard for the line honours, with places changing throughout the races. Howard and Thomas Steavenson pressed them hard, as did Bernard Clark and Jamie Kerslake and John and Alison Cheetham. Further down the fleet the racing was just as close with plenty of place changing keeping helms and crews on their toes and working hard on their tactics and their speed. Final Results: 1st Mark and Emma Simpson, SDSC 2nd Howard and Thomas Steavenson, TSC 3rd Bernard Clark and Jamie Kerslake, YOSC 4th John and Alison Cheetham, YSC
With just 3 meetings left in the Northern series and 11 boats already qualifying, Simpson and Simpson are now in the lead on 6 points, closely followed by Philip and Helen David on 8 points and Howard and Thomas Steavenson on 12 points. The next events, at Ripon on 1 October and Yeadon on 2 October promise some excellent competition with the chance of some more qualifiers and the opportunity for those who have already qualified to shed poorer results.
