21st & 22nd April

 

This was the first time the National 12s have visited Pagham and the fleet of 12 boats was warmly welcomed by the club, bright sunshine and a light breeze. The open meeting was held jointly with the Larks who started first and indicated what the tide and wind were doing. Over five races Graham Camm & Zoe Ballantyne in Babel Fish battled for the lead all the way round the course with Tom Stewart & Liz Ross in Silverfin.

 

Silverfin and Babel Fish’s leads were challenged several times during the weekend. Antony & Jo Gifford in Fatso clinched second in race 1 aided by Silverfin being on course side at the start. Gavin & Sabrina Willis spotted that the wind had swung to the right in the final race and established a substantial lead by the windward mark and went on to win race 5 with Jon Ibbotson & Charlotte Stewart in Monkey Business taking second.
