Tynemouth

Although only 5 National 12s sailed in the Tynemouth open meeting, the Tynemouth Bailer trophy was hotly contended. Philip David and Garry Holdswsorth from Yorkshire Ouse SC won the first race from Mark and Emma Simpson (Scaling Dam SC), who won the second race easily. Bernard Clark and Philip Benn (Yorkshire Ouse SC) won the third race, making the result close. David lost the trophy only because he was forced to retire from the last race because of crew seasickness. Mark and Emma Simpson were narrow but worthy winners.

All the competitors enjoyed the mainly sunny conditions, the Force 1-3 wind and a small chop in Cullercoats Bay, where all three races were sailed.
