Not sure of the full results, but will tell you what I can... Brightlingsea are putting on a fantastic event and all races have been run so far, and today looks like being another great day for the Burton cup.

Race winners so far are Tom Stewart and Rachel Williamson (2 race wins), William Warren and Toby Lewis, Steve and Joanna Sallis.
Tom and Rachel currently leading overall from John and Katie Meadowcroft, then I'm not really sure, but the others up there are Steve and Joanna, Graham aand Zoe, Jonno and Char, William and Toby!
Two broken masts on saturday and two boats black flagged on Sunday (Tom and Rachel and Kevin and Jane)
That's all for now, but hopefully you'll get more comprehensive results from the official sources soon!

Hot gossip and great news Sophie.

The emphasis for those at the event should be involvement and fun and not on chores and admin so I'm not griping in any way, but I have been checking the micro-site for results. I only mention it because I am aware of an interest group, small in number, that has been looking: Me!

Burton cup
1 Tom and Rachel
2 Steve and Joanna Sallis

Plenty of breeze and the winners finished in just under 2 hours...

It has been great fun!
443 made it round the windy course twice yesterday but in the Burton race in even windier conditions (marginal for a narrow undecked boat) half swamped and on the first reach the transom pintle gave out and the rudder was off!  And over we went with me holding on to the tiller so the whole lot was not lost.  In dragging the rudder back into the boat the remains of a bolt ripped a buoyancy bag so we floated a tad low.  The excellent resue service towed us back and by the time we reached blighty the bailers had emptied the boat so an easy recovery followed.  Many hands helped us to effect a temporary repair for tomorrow's races.
Bring it on!

I think that Howard Chadwick and Katie McInnes won the vintage series, with Vince and Sarah Philips winning the Burton Cup prizes.

Tom Stewart & Rachel Williamson won the Burton Cup and the series, with Steve and Jo Sallis second in both.  Graham and Zoe third overall.

sure there will be more to come soon

Do you think someone from the class assoc could cobble together a report and some results for the sailing sites and mags whilst the news is still warm?  Geoff Gritton took some great photos of the Burton - 370 of them to be precise.  This one should be on the front cover of Y&Y at least

Geoff happy for the photos to be published so long as his site gets a mention for taking them

Many apologies for the lack of news, reports etc on Burton Week, I was unable to establish an internet connection due to the strange public network setup that there is at Brightlingsea. I have been starting to update the BW website this morning and will continue all day with reports, images, results etc as I can. I will also be submitting an event report ot Y&Y by the end of the day.

Keep checking out on http://national12.org/burtonweek/2011/ throughout the day for latest uploads, overall results and video links there so far.

Sorry, I'm doing the best i can....

Jeremy,

Not sure if others are having the same problem but everytime I log onto the Burton website every pc I have tried it on tries to download Shockwave, stalls, locks out and then crashes!

Any ideas?

John,

not sure why you are having that problem, though I have just done and online search for shockwave crashes and came to this page, might be worth having a look at:

Hi,
As a very new National 12 sailor (day 1 of the champs was my first time in a 12!) I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone. You are a really welcoming and friendly fleet. The hints and tips in the dinghy park helped a lot and definitely prevented a potential 'dive dive' moment as we rounded the windward mark!
Hope to be back in a 12 again soon...
