This boat is one of about twenty on the now infamous picture of the Naburn Paddle taken some time in the nineteen fifties with one boat trying to mount another. You really have to see it to understand what is happening. The picture even made it to the Hong Kong Times. Viince Phillips is a good point of call to try and get a copy of the picture and his number is in the book. I will attempt to get a copy of this picture up for everyone to see and therefore admire!

N 1066 was one of a trio of Nationals built in the sailing club of RAF Cranwell by Aircraft Apprentices in 1951. It was owned by the Adjudant of the RAF College and I crewed for him at meetings around the country. One event was at Naburn on the Ouse, whe a ferocious gust swept up the river moments before the start. Just William surged forward on the plane and climbed high onto the transom of the boat in front. We did not capsize but I remember that many boats did. A picture appeared in Yachting World's next edition.
