Not so lucky - Brian and Thea after suffering a broken mast returning from Race 1 on the Sunday of Burton Week 2012. The turbulent waters over the Chichester bar caused by a strong ebb tide and onshore wind were not for the faint-hearted and claimed 8 masts and 2 rudders in the first two days of the event.

And another just to give the full picture. Brian and Thea had battled through the waves and tide and had almost reached the safety of the beach but were capsized by a strong gust. The ebb tide ripping out of Chichester Harbour quickly pulled them back into the danger area where, after several attempts to right their beautiful boat, the mast unfortunately bounced on the bottom and snapped. Rumour has it that Brian will now get a new mast and will work with Tom at P&B to try and make his Chimp go even faster! Every cloud has a silver lining - or for us fellow vintage sailors maybe that should be the other way round? Many thanks to Howard Chadwick for the photos Tim
