National 12 Gill Series 2006
Dear National 12 sailor
It gives us great pleasure to welcome you to the Gill National 12 series 2006, the 70th anniversary year of the National 12 class. Our wish is that the partnership between Gill and the class association will allow you the opportunity to experience and enjoy the great racing and fun associated with a series of events which hopefully appeals to all National 12 sailors. As usual we are endeavouring to reward sailors throughout the fleet whether sailing as a family, a youth team, in an Admiral’s cup boat (i.e. non-self draining), or as a seasoned open meeting sailor.
In this 70th year of the National 12 we have a new venue for the series at one of the first clubs to hold an open meeting for the class, Trent Valley S.C., where you will be able to experience racing in flights on the river Trent. We also welcome back after a break other series favourites Northampton and Royal Harwich. We return again to Filey and series stalwarts, Bristol Corinthian, Starcross and for the final event Grafham Water.
Additional effort is being put into the social side this year and we hope you and your families will enjoy the variety of entertainment planned. Short seminars are planned for some events after sailing on the Saturday and the Gill sponsorship means there will be fantastic prizes making it will be well worth putting a few weekends on aside for the series.
All events are organised to make it easy and fun for everyone to join in. This booklet contains details of all the events including social and seminar itineraries, along with accommodation details and directions to the clubs. So if you haven't sailed your 12 for a while or you are thinking of participating in your first open meeting these events will be ideal.
We hope you enjoy the Gill series events and look forward to seeing you on the water.
