Waldringfield Easter Egg
A small but select group of National Twelves took
part in exceptionally close racing on the Deben river over the Easter
weekend.  The added excitement of sailing round tight courses surrounded
by Squibs and many other classes ensured a lively time was had by all.
Two races each day and three different race
winners, with often a boat length separating the top four, resulted in
tight overall results with multi-Burton week winners Tom Stewart and Liz
Ross clinching the open meeting by one point from Frances Gifford and
Sophie Mackley who were tied on points with Jon and Charlotte Ibbotson.
With more firsts Gifford and Mackley would have won
an unenforced tie break, too many Easter eggs, not enough time,
fortunately the Twelve fleet are a caring sharing type and no-one could
be happier than with a tie.
With fantastic weather for five out of the six
races, and one going a little light, there was cause for suncream,
shorties for the first time this year for many, and a little bit of
swimming for a couple of boats.  A very lovely and exciting long
weekend’s racing was enjoyed by all and thanks go to Waldringfield
		Sailing Club once again.
