Dear National 12 sailor

Welcome to the Gill National 12 series 2007. Whether you are an occasional sailor or a seasoned open meeting competitor, we hope you will be able to take part at least one of the events planned this year, you may be sure of an enthusiastic welcome whatever your sailing ability. Included in this pack are details of the events scheduled prior to Burton Week. Full details for the final three events will be circulated later.

The format of the series has changed slightly this year with eight events scheduled but still only four to count. This is in response to the problems some people faced last year when they were forced to decide whether to sail their vintage or double bottomed boat at the 70th anniversary meeting.

Also in response to popular demand, the final three events will be one day events but two of these will have another local associated event available on the non-series day for those who wish to make a weekend of it.

The series has already kicked off at Bristol Corinthian and soon continues with Trent Valley, back by popular demand. Next is a venue new to the series, West Riding SC who are very much looking forward to hosting us as part of their bank holiday regatta. This is followed a few weeks later by a return visit to Royal Harwich where last year’s successful joint event with the Larks and Fireflies is being repeated. Then we have what we hope will become a popular annual event a SUMMER CELEBRATION at Ripon SC. There will be special categories for vintage and 4-plank boats, as well as the usual Admiral’s Cup and Double Bottom sections. This promises to be a particularly special event, so if you cannot do any others, please make the effort to attend this one.

Final details will be published on the web-site near the date of each event and also circulated to everyone on the Gill series email circulation list (if you are not yet on this but would like to be, please send your email address to kevin.iles at yahoo.co.uk and you will be included for future circulations).
